Uniting anaesthesia providers around the world
We really can unite for change!
Last week you might have seen the launch of our Safe Anaesthesia For EverybodY – Today (SAFETY) campaign on World Anaesthesia Day. You might have seen it all over social media and for longer than the intended day itself - that’s because it went global!
Thousands of anaesthesiologists from countries in every continent and corner of the world took part. We asked them to think about the importance of safe anaesthesia and surgery, take a photograph of themselves holding up our banner demanding ‘Safe Anaesthesia For Everybody – TodaY’ and post it onto social media.
We also asked them to read this toolkit and consider advocating in other ways for safe anaesthesia to become a greater priority, improving global health policy and material response. Don’t know why that’s important? Click here.
Again, we were thrilled with the response from our network. Not only did many of our members sign this petition, some even wrote to their local governments about the importance of safe anaesthesia and surgical care. A really great start to the SAFETY campaign!
This incredible response shows the reach and power that anaesthesia providers have when they join together and campaign.
The WFSA’s network alone has hundreds of thousands of members, and so giving them a voice to fight for change, for improvement, and for their patients, is what the WFSA will continue to do with our SAFETY campaign.
Look out for more ways to get involved with the SAFETY campaign in the coming months. Inspired to get involved in the campaign before then? Email Niki at .
The World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists unites anaesthesiologists around the world to improve patient care & access to safe anaesthesia and perioperative medicine. Through advocacy and education programmes we work to avert the global crisis in anaesthesia.
